A little about me

The introduction

Hey Ali. What’s your story?

I studied mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto. Now I work in capital projects at PwC Middle East.

Outside work, I build with AI, try business ideas, and write about what I’m learning.

That’s the short version. Want the slightly longer one?

Go on.

The work

At PwC, I work with owners, developers, and government entities on infrastructure and real estate programmes across the Gulf.

A lot of it is figuring out how the commercial picture fits together, then helping people make decisions.

  • Reconciled more than $5bn of commercial records against accounting ledgers.
  • Identified more than $20m in incremental revenue opportunities for a GCC autonomous vehicle programme. This was opportunity identified, not realised revenue.
  • Built transformation plans, risk registers, KPI frameworks, and market shortlists. Used machine learning and Power BI to forecast hospital bed capacity.
  • Contributed to at least 15 technical proposals and RFI and RFP responses across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.

And the building part?

I co-founded Clap Digital while consulting full time. Positioning, pricing, sales, delivery. I got involved in all of it.

I handled positioning, pricing, sales, and delivery while consulting full time.

Screened 1,270 businesses across 15 cities and identified 295 qualified decision maker leads.

What I’m building

What are you working on now?

GG PC. I’ve been gaming since I was five, and trying to build a new rig made me realise how messy the UAE parts market was. So I started building a better way to choose parts, compare local prices, and check what fits together.

It’s grown into a web builder, a Chrome extension, and Gigi, a Discord bot. I’m working across the product, the pricing data, and the community around it.

My work on GG PC

And Auditro?

That comes from another part of my world. I’m building software for UAE In-Country Value workflows, helping finance and procurement teams understand their score, manage supplier certificates, and trace the evidence behind a decision.

What keeps me curious

What are you interested in now?

What one person can actually build with AI. I’d rather try something and find out than spend too long guessing.

And the business side: finding something people want, asking them about it, then doing the work of selling and delivering it.

Off duty

Okay, but when the laptop’s closed?

Training, books, travel, chess. There’s plenty to get interested in outside work.

Travel. This one was Switzerland. I think the mountains make a pretty good case for closing the laptop.

I think we’d have a good conversation.

Then let’s have one.

Your turn.
